Recover provides enhanced support for people that are finishing treatment or are stable in their recovery. (For substance and alcohol misuse, abstinence and sobriety are required. This is for several reasons, including safeguarding participants and the type of tools and equipment used in the workshop.)

TEAM DAYS FOR PARTNER AGENCIES
Partner Agencies and Healthcare providers/professionals
We welcome and encourage potential referring partners to visit our workshop to see what’s on offer and experience firsthand, the therapeutic work focussed environment. This minimizes clients being referred that would not benefit or be suited, eliminating the risk of setting them up to feel like they have failed.
We can be contacted by any means available, including phone, email, in person, website contact form and social media. We generally respond immediately and always within one working day.
The person will be invited to come for a relaxed look at the workshop and for this initial visit we suggest they come with someone they know for support. This helps alleviate the anxiety many feel when visiting new places on their own, often their support worker is the best option. There is the opportunity to experience the atmosphere in our workshop, find out if the journey is viable and to ask any questions they may have. We then recommend that they sleep on it and then contact us the next day or soon after to arrange a ‘taster’ session.
Taster sessions do not require any commitment and give both the client and ourselves the opportunity to find out if they will benefit from participating regularly and to ensure there are no obstacles or conflicts that would be unmanageable.
Following the ‘taster’ session and having been contacted by the person to tell us they want to join our team of participants we look at the rota and find days that suit.
Our service is holistic and bespoke, we take in to consideration the individuals personal circumstances when scheduling the rota. The workshop hours are 9.30am-4pm, Mon-Fri and two days per week is suggested. There is flexibility to accommodate people that the hours and two days are not viable for and we manage this on a case-by-case basis. Engaging with Recover is not time bound and as long as the participant is benefitting they may continue, sometimes days are increased or reduced to facilitate their recovery and reintegration with communities, also to help transition into employment or education.
When resources and capacity allow we hold sessions for small groups from our referring partners. These are one session per week for four to six weeks with the opportunity to join our regular core team following completion. We have found that when the first sessions include a support worker from the partner agency to help with transport and join in the workshops this can be very beneficial for all involved. In the first instance we visit their site and make a presentation directly to the staff and clients to gauge interest and come up with a bespoke course that would maximise interest, engagement and positive outcomes.
Team days for Partner Agencies
Similarly, when resources and capacity allow we are able to provide team building and awareness days for staff and volunteers. These have been great fun and also an opportunity to have a go at some upcycling techniques, whilst seeing exactly what we do that may benefit their own clients.
SELF-REFERRING
We accept self-referrals and the process is similar to the above except, following an initial visit and expression of interest we would require a letter or similar from your GP or other healthcare professional stating that you would not be a risk to yourself or others and to let us know of any concerns they have, especially around safeguarding.
